I was beyond honoured when Kristen contacted me regarding a gift card for her mom and dad to have a portrait session. It had been years since they had captured a full family photo and for them to book me.. well that just made me so happy!
We booked the session date for easter weekend as that way everyone would be home from the city and together. Little did we know a huge storm would be meeting us at the farm. As Jeff and I made the short drive out, we were literally racing the tumble weeds and with the gusts of wind, the tumble weeds were winning. When we arrived the family and I talked it over and felt that it would be best to reschedule as the temperature had also dramatically dropped and rain was coming in sideways.
Not to waste an opportunity to catch up, the men moved to the basement and after a drink or two the weather was actually starting to clear up a bit, so everyone changed back into their session wardrobe and we headed outside. With about an hour window before the next bit of crazy weather we worked to capture as many family photos as possible; as long as we had light, we were creating.
The whole family looked great! And the neutral color base they chose photographed so well with the natural colors of the farm this time of year. I’m so happy we waited out the weather and continued with our plans. The sky we were given that evening was nothing short of fabulous and really added a beautiful backdrop to the portraits. Enjoy a few photos from our shoot together…
